This is an illustrated lecture on the late, great David Hockney, RA. Arguably Britain’s most prolific and popular artist, Hockney’s career spanned seven decades, during which time he perennially reinvented himself, utilising advancing technology to aid his creative output, from the fax machine to the iPad. Shifting between LA, Malibu and Paris, the Prodigal Son returned to his childhood county of Yorkshire in 1998. Since such time he has shared with his adoring public, monumental canvases which chart seasonal change with a nod to the French Impressionists, Monet et al. It is estimated Hockney bequeathed to the nation some 8,000 artworks.
