Synopsis:
This brief illustrated talk, peppered with nostalgic audio snippets and visual clips, begins in Chicago in the US, and travels via New York to Detroit and over the Pond to the UK.
Who were the precursors of House Music? Where did House first originate? What is allegedly the first House track? How did House transmogrify into Deep House, Acid House and Techno?
This presentation will explore the 80s, 90s & 2000s and onwards, to see how the legacy of House lives on, whether deep underground or in the public consciousness via Top of the Pops! Our journey is coloured with examples of the synthesisers, record labels, clubs, DJs and event gatherings that oiled the machine that is House!
