Session One – ‘Patronage and Pageantry’ Benozzo Gozzoli’s Procession of the Magi, 1459. 

A resplendent cavalcade of the Medici family in the guise of the three adoring Magi; this work was commissioned by Piero di Cosimo de’ Medici to adorn his family’s private chapel in the Palazzo Medici, Florence. It is a veritable feast for the eyes in terms of courtly pomp and circumstance.
