Session Two – ‘The Study of a Saint’ Anotonello da Messina’s St. Jerome in his Study, 1475 

A meticulously observed study of the 4th century scholar who translated the Bible from Hebrew into Latin (The Vulgate). Such is the quasi-Flemish miniaturist attention to detail, the artist conceived this work with the aid of a magnifying glass and recommended the viewer should follow suit!
